“Give Them The Gift of Growing Up” Jeremiah Lane

Assistant director of the Children’s Hospital Foundation Jeremiah Lane sat with me for episode 145 of the This is Oklahoma Podcast. He’s been there for six years and is doing incredible things for the foundation.

Jeremiah grew up in Bethany Oklahoma, he attended university at Oklahoma State in Stillwater Oklahoma. Jeremiah worked for CHF as a student intern and founded the Cowboython dance marathon while in school. The Cowboython is a 24hour dance marathon aimed at raising money for the foundation. Through this experience he engaged with many of the children benefiting from the foundation and the money it raises. One of these children was a name Jas. Jas had quite the impact on Jeremiah, so much so that he name his own son Jas when the time came for his wife to have their baby son.

Jeremiah went to work for the foundation straight out of school. He briefly stepped away to take a sales role for another company traveling around the country selling to customers. Jeremiah said the skills he learned traveling the country without a doubt help him every day in todays work at the foundation. Raising money is no easy task, there’s a million and one foundations out there asking for money. But since Jeremiah has returned the have been on a steady increase of donations. He won’t tell you its all because of him, but i see a passion in him that’s just not seen everyday. He truly loves what he does and the kids and families he helps raise money for.

This is more than a job; his family has been personally impacted by the CHF. Jeremiah son has been treated as well as his niece and nephew.

The CHF has more than 350 events a year. Through affiliates and their own events like the golf tournament I played in last fall. All the events are online for you to check out www.chfkids.com

They’ve had kids throw birthday parties and ask that their presents are donations to the charity. This is a core principle at the foundation. By starting with children showing them the impact of giving to your local charities. Therefore if you grow up knowing that donating your time or money has an impact and that its a good thing. By the time you get old enough, have a full time job, maybe you’ve graduated college and you are able to donate more money. The impact you have is greater and it doesn’t seem out of the ordinary for you to help.

Jeremiah and his colleagues at the foundation continue to do great things. Even in today’s current times with COVID19 looming and the impending impact that is having on people and their finances. The foundation is still working extremely hard to maintain its level of donations and events.

So if youre looking for a reason to impact your community look no further. Start with the Children’s Hospital Foundation. As Jeremiah says, “Give them the gift of growing up”.
